Adorable...But a Waste of Talent

Anytime Bradford/Spinelli hits the screen, it's a beautiful thing. But yesterday, it was a waste of talent. I mean, W-to-the-T-to-the-F? (Sorry, comes with having a teenager in the house).

Is this what we get from now on until Spinelli hits Night Shift? "Spinelli reporting live to anyone who will listen on 'The Little Stone Cold One'?" PUHLEZE! His whole presence yesterday was nothing more than a means to an end (another slap in the face for Sam as she comes to realize that half the town knew about this baby and wondering to herself if her new show should be called "Everyday Morons.") They might as well have let Bradford phone it in that day.

Sorry, but I am just SO TIRED of seeing GH (specifically GUZA) destroy a litany of talent, only to continue writing inane and RIDICULOUS storylines and (dare I even use the term) DIALOGUE for these boobs that remain. Gloria Monty wouldn't have stood for this. She would have seen Bradford for the talent he is and written him to the hilt! Just ask Tony Geary!

Okay, rant over....But if I'm stuck in a summer of "Loogie," then I guess I'll be watching a lot of VH-1 reality TV - Flavor of Love anyone?

Last year Bradford did two episodes of Veronica Mars ( Ahoy, Mateys! & Versatile Toppings)
I just saw Versatile Toppings again(I saw it when it originally broadcast)It was great to see Bradford in a different role and Veronica Mars just happens to be my favorite show (we will see how long that lasts it is on the chopping block). Ryan is a gay pizza delivering high school student. (you can find out more by seeing the episodes yourself)I really do recommend watching the two episodes (Season Two Disk 2 & 4 Ok I recommend the whole series.---

I love Fan videos.
Fan videos is one of the reasons I started this blog in the first place. I wanted a place to catalog them.

Challenge: Make a video showing how special Spinelli is.

I was trying to think of a way to share why we think Spinelli is such a special character. In light of the current backlash. I came up with this idea.

I will accept submissions till May 31 at 8am (eastern). I will then do a poll and the winner after a week will get 1 audio book of choice from audible.com (lame I know but that is what I have to give, well audible is pretty cool.) & a special graphic you can post on your site to show you won.

You will also get a graphic for just being part of this challenge.

Rules:

• Videos are to be primary about Spinelli
• Videos need to be posted on YouTube or comparable site with embedding enabled.
  
• Videos should state they are part of this challenge ( something like: Bradford Anderson Fan blog May Video Challenge)
  
• You should share your video: post it on sites, your MySpace page, Facebook, personal websites.

Not really much to say.
Spinelli was on . It was kinda a continuation with yesterday (not the 'good part ether). He had a scene with Lulu and Jason.
I just want my Spin out of this storyline yesterday. Positive note he looked cute today.

Just One Touch....

Thank you, Guza, for pacifying us with one beautiful SpinLu moment - before I know you're going to throw "Loogie" in our faces. (Oops, sorry, Penny - did I break the "bash" rule? :D)

I just adored how Spinelli reached out to Lulu in about a thousand different ways but only ever touching her once or twice. You could tell he wanted to comfort her but just wasn't sure if he should hold her, put his hand on her shoulder, hug her....but he comforted her with his words. I love that the writers are showing that Spinelli has a great depth of love and intelligence and is not just the "pot head computer geek" they insinuated him to be when he was first brought on the show.

It was tremendous that they added the music. I wonder what writer had to do rock/paper/scissors with Guza to win that little triumph?

It was almost a bust.... then we had music

The episode was starting out as another repeat of yesterday. Then in the last few moments came...

Spinelli was playing Jr baby stalker. It really could have been anyone on the show playing the 'role' They really should give Bradford better material. snooze fest.

Then Spinelli and Lulu had their moment. There was even music. It was wonderful and sweet. Both Lulu and Spinelli showed why I feel they are so good for each other. Even with Spinelli completely disagreeing with her the angry one didn't yell at him this time but listened. Spinelli comforted Lulu over her fear of the baby and her feelings over her past abortion. It was just very special. What a site it was when Lulu was holding that baby. (side note that baby really seemed to like Julie)

Why Why crazy insane people in charge do you keep throwing out the Spinlu bone out every now and then? Why don't you put me out of my misery.

My Damian: The plot device & champion of the child.

I noticed a few things today. Today he was writen as the Anti-Lulu. His option was completely opposite of Lulu's. If she said black he said white. There was no gray on ether side. Honestly from someone looking it is a little annoying LOL. It is like Spinelli and Lulu are a little angel & an devil on Jason's shoulders telling him what to do. (Spinelli is worth more then a plot device) The positive being is he is not afraid to decent from Lulu's option. Which is a good thing. Oh and Spinelli was adorable even with a dash of stalkerness the writers had to throw in today.

As an Elizabeth fan my patience with this storyline has been tested well before the Jackal got involved. The only postive thing for me is that it has been a catalyst for us to learn more about Spinelli. Something happened to him that made his option so strong on this subject. Please I beg of your writers of GH don't let this get dropped. I must know what makes my Damian tick. Please tell me.

Jason's True Friend Part 2

I couldn't come up with a better title for my blog than Penny had already done. As usual, I'm a day late and a dollar short on watching GH, but wow, was it worth it.

The interaction with Jason and Spinelli yesterday was just incredible, made more so, in fact, by the incredible acting of Steve Burton. I absolutely loved how his demeanor changed when Spinelli arrived. It was subtle (again, Steve played this to the nines), but he opened up in a way to Spinelli that he does with NO ONE else, including Sonny. You could feel a trust there that he just doesn't have with any other person in his life. Jason always feels a little - guarded. There was none of that when he spoke to Spinelli about everything he had been through in the past few hours.

Even though Sonny has children and might have been able to relate to Jason's feelings as a new father better than this "kid," it's obvious that he feels Spinelli understands him better than any relationship he has - even with Sam.

Bradford's facial expressions were dead on. With a character like Spinelli, it would be easy to overplay his physical reactions, but, as always, Bradford nailed the perfect blend of physical expression and tone of voice in conveying his emotions to Jason.

More importantly, Spinelli proved yesterday that no matter how in love he is with Lulu, he will ALWAYS root for the "right thing" with his friend.

Is that not the definition of "A True Friend?"

My Open Letter to Spinelli Bashers.

Today was a tough day for me on my favorite soap board. For some reason my sweet Damian is taking some heat. Perhaps out of jealousy or simply they just don't get him. That is really the way of online groups.

Dear Spinelli Bashers,
I am sorry your don't have the same love I do for Damian Spinelli. In the end of the day I believe this is your loss.

If you can't delight in Bradford Anderson's great talents then you know what I can accept that. I don't really care if your upset he is on too much. I am sure if your favorite had a stint of being on a lot your would not complain but instead enjoy it.

I have decided after today to no insult characters unless it is based on fact. The days of calling Logan a cockroach is over (though is still a creepy dude that I feel has little to offer the show). The pain of reading things people have written about Spinelli was just too much for me to take. I can't expect behavior from others if I don't practice it myself.

So in closing give Spinelli a chance. If you can't see past your hate I hope you will at least base your comments in facts.

Jason's True Friend

Today Spinelli showed us he is a true friend of Jason. He not just a mindless Jason worshiper. He not only completely supportive of Jason but also went against the blond ones wishes. Since the moment he has found out about the baby he has supported Jason in his right to parent his own child and more so the child's right to know his father. It is from this storyline we have received the information that the Jackal has some parent issues. He may not agree with Jason's wanting to pretend he is not the father but he supports him. He also though is will to tell him that he feels differently.

It is scenes like theses that Damien becomes more then just an joke and more of a full fleshed out character. I can't wait to find out more.

Ok time to be honest. What was your first impressions when you saw Spinelli sitting on Alcazar's coach last fall?


I am pretty forth coming of the fact that I didn't 'get' Spinelli when he first came on the scene. It as only after Bradford worked his magic that Spinelli became my favorite character on the General Hospital.

I am BACK: A personal soap marathon.

Not that I am sure anyone noticed because Rene' did an amazing job keeping the site up to day. Three Cheers for Rene' (I love when Rene' posts in general too)

I returned yesterday from a 5 day trip with my family. So I had 4 episodes of General Hospital waiting for me.

I am a little sad that there is so much of GH I can FF through. So to the Spinelli scenes (was there really only two??) . Rene' did a great job with the scene with Jason (http://bradfordanderson.net/2007/05/and-grasshopper-grows.html )
That was such a good scene.

There was a scene where Spinelli ran out of the coffee shop to approach Scott and it seemed out of place and didn't work for me. Bradford always does a bang up job with what he is provided with but the whole scene did fit with the story. Will it be attached to something in future?? I doubt it. (ok I am not partial to scenes where Spinelli looks like a kicked puppy) I don't even think that Lulu noticed that he did that. Or was that the point. That Spinelli was willing to do something for Lulu with out the benefit of a response? Perhaps but it made Scott look like a bully and Spinelli look like easily intimidated.

And the grasshopper grows....

Although I have to say I normally feel like throwing the nearest heavy object at the TV when it comes to the writing on GH recently, I do LOVE how they are allowing Spinelli's character to grow. In the past, if Jason had yelled at him in the way he did today - "DELETE IT!" - Spinelli would have been majorly traumatized and made a hasty exit. Today, he was obviously hurt but stood his ground. "Consider it deleted." This shows a major turning point for Spinelli, definitely in his relationship with Jason and hopefully with others as well. He is learning that not every moment of anger or outburst of emotion should be taken personally.

Spinelli seemed to feel the moment as well, allowing him to muster up the courage to confront Scott. I think he realized he may have pushed his limits a bit, but he's come a long way from the scared rabbit he was six months ago, and he knows it.

But leaving the bag of chips for Jason - "they help" - showed us that no matter how much the grasshopper learns and grows, he'll always have the sweet, caring side we've grown to love.

I say it every day, but it bears repeating. Writers can only put words on paper. It takes a certain caliber of actor to give it life, emotion and character. Bradford never misses the mark. He hits it...and beyond.

"I Don't Believe the Blonde One is Partial to Nuts..."

I certainly hope Spinelli is right, because Logan is definitely a world-class NUT job. I know there are "Lugie" fans sprouting up (is that the proper moniker?), but I just felt all of the Logan/Lulu scenes were so contrived yesterday. It felt...WRONG. Not just because I'm a SpinLu fan, but because it just seemed like something inserted into the script last minute. A random shooting? The "let's look at how much chemistry we have" slap by Lulu? But I digress.

The Three Stooges scenes yesterday were precious as always. What I found hysterical was the way Milo and Dillon appeared a bit "Spinellified" when they ran into the diner to apologize to Lulu. Instead of their usual attempt to try to appear cooler than Spinelli, it seemed they both decided a little "spazzing" might be just what cupid ordered to get a little closer to Lulu's heart. (Well, it's working for Spinelli, isn't it?) :) The ice cream scene was just perfection, played to the hilt by all the actors. For the first time in quite some time, I actually LIKED Dillon - but he still needs to find a new love interest. :)

I also loved that the always-caring Spinelli tried to make his Samantha feel better. Does she want to dance? Is she worried about Stone Cold dancing with the Valkyrie so long? He has such a big heart, and I'm glad the writers continue to integrate this into his scenes with every character, not just Lulu.

As always, Bradford gives 150% to every scene - verbally and with his body language and facial expressions. He lights up the screen in every scene he is in. Bravo, Bradford!

The Fantasy Dance...

This was such a funny amazing moment. Lulu & Spinelli looked great. (I bet the filming must have been so much fun) Bradford really showed off his diverse skills today. I was so thankful that the fantasy was just Spinelli's fantasy and not part of a group of three fantasies. It made it a lot more special.

On aside I was not pleased that the last moments of this episode was a shootout involving Logan. What away to ruin a wedding.

The Jackal & the Three Stooges

General Hospital started the "three suitors" for Lulu storyline before February sweeps. It started out full of humor (and at times still is), A misfit* like Lulu has not just one but 3 guys who not only LIKE her but REALLY like her. It was funny. Slowly though Spinelli has become separate from Dillon & Milo in relation to Lulu. Lulu & Spinelli share secrets, have been through multipliable life & death situations, and they have shared tender moments.

It makes Milo & Dillon seem foolish by thinking they are on the same level as Damian. (sorry boys that ship sailed)

*I realize misfit maybe a surprising word to use but I personally still consider Lulu the same (though she has grown) misfit she was a year ago.

Bradford playing Spinelli "standing in" for Jason.

That was perhaps what of the funniest things I have seen in a while. I laughed and laughed. He looked so cute with his hair slicked back wearing Jason's suit.

One of the things I love the most about Spinelli is his loyalty to his friends. He just simply would not allow Jason to be responsible for 'ruining' Carly's wedding. I honestly believe he took away the stress of Jason not being at the rehearsal and make it a LOT lighter.

I also enjoyed the scene with Jax. He seemed confidant and Jax did not intimidate Spinelli. He was honest to Jax. Jax would not have said those things about Jason with Carly standing there.

Breakfast with Bradford!

For those who have never been to a GH Fan Event before, and perhaps were considering purchasing a ticket to the July "Breakfast with Bradford and Adrian (Alvarado)" in July during GH Fan Club Weekend, I thought you might like to know what you will get for your $50.00 ticket.

First, the event is Friday morning, July 13th from 8:00-11:00 a.m. (I'm frankly terrified of not leaving early enough from my Temecula home two hours away - hope rush hour is kind to me!) It will be at Sportsmen's Lodge Event Center in the Starlight Cascade Room, 12825 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA.

According to my letter (which you will receive in lieu of a physical ticket to the event), you will check in at the door upon arrival. Your name will be on a list, and you must show photo ID. There will be tables with assigned seating, and you will receive your seat upon check-in.

The letter goes on to say that you should feel free to stroll around and check out all the raffle and silent auction items, photos and other merchandise for sale (wonder what they will raffle???) Apparently, there will also be breakfast foods (hence, BREAKFAST for Bradford and Adrian!) :)

The guys will go around from table to table to meet everyone personally, sign autographs and pose for photos (yay!) after the initial Q&A from the stage. NO video cameras or audio recorders allowed! They also ask that once they move on to the next table that you not get up and follow them (do people really do that?? How rude!)

I'm extremely excited and can't wait to report back on the event. If you've been hesitating about what you might get for your $50.00 ($55.00 if you purchase your ticket through Paypal), it sounds to me like it's worth every penny!

This one of the biggest insults to viewers in a long time.
I would have turned the TV off and deleted General Hospital from my DVR today if it was not for the hope to see Spinelli.

Short and Sweet.

That was Spinelli's scene today. It was very nice. Seemed a bit out of place inbetween the two brooding Sonny scenes on ether end. It was still a nice sweet scene. I liked how he showed concerned of Baby Lila Rae.

Jason says he trusts Spinelli.

Anyone catch what he called her? Evilone's baby? Evil one baby? oh something like that.

oooh cute Spinlu scene alert...

What a cute scene today. They got in a little tiff and Lulu reached for his hand.
I love how Spinelli stood up a bit to Lulu.

The scene ether said two things. Lulu DOES have feelings for Spinelli or that she is playing him to get her way. I personally would like to believe it is the first option. Spinelli is such a special guy I hate to see him being used like that and I DO believe there is a future for him and Lulu.

Logan a Doctor??

Ok I am going to break one of the rules I have for myself about this blog and I PROMISE not to make it a habit am I promise to end this post some how related to the great and wonderful Spin. (I try to keep all posts related to Spinelli or Bradford).

Logan sucks. I am sincerely sorry to any Logan fans who may be reading this but I can't stand the guy (I really have no issues with the actor but my tiff is with the character) Are we really suppose to believe Logan (a.k.a dumb as a door nail) wanted to be a doctor and even worse (gasp) is a reader. Medical mysteries my butt. The guy is a stalker and could very well be a sociopath.

Ok ok I feel better now. The people writing this ridiculous stuff need to remember that Damian Spinelli is the brain.

The Broken Jackal

Today we saw more evidence that Spinelli's home life was not all sunshine and apple pie. He was so surprised that Jason didn't snap at him and/or hurt him about the dent. He wanted to be honest to his friend he did the right thing but the was prepared for a harsh backlash. I think perhaps evidence of abuse.

I have seen some people question Spinelli's EXTREME hero worship of Jason. To Spinelli Jason is amazing. Spinelli can't imagine a better person to be a father for Jason is everything he wished his father to be.

I want Damian to become on a more even level with Jason. I want there relationship to be more about friendship and less about hero worship. They are both good for the other.

Spinelli's back story is one of the few things I am really interested in right now. Forget everything else this is what gets me to watch General Hospital each day.

Spinelli: Love Interest & Friend

Since I didn't get a chance to post about Thursday and Friday's episodes and now we are past Monday's episode I decided to go over some general topics i have been thinking about.

Spinelli the love interest:
I wanted to start of with this because this really bothers me. I have read in different places places things like "Spinelli can't be a serious love interest". Honestly are we living in different worlds? Who are the love interest out there? Does love have to be 'taken seriously". On a personal level for myself one of the most attractive personality traits a man can have is a sense of humor. Take that with Bradford being pretty easy on the eyes, I can't see how Spinelli isn't a viable love interest.

Spinelli the friend:
It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that Spinelli is deficient in the area of social skills. I imagine he spent much of his life on the outside looking in. Never quite clicking with everyone . Like any social misfit he clings to the people who befriend him. He is very loyal to these people and is willing to make himself look like fool to help them out and protect them.

• When Sonny was hurt and was saying 'inappropriate" stuff in the hospital Spinelli 'covered' for him. They where so busy looking at Spinelli acting oddly that they really forgot what Sonny was saying.
• Yesterday when Spinelli came in with the camera to film the birth of his friend Jason's child he was willing to cover again by being made a fool of (I have some issues with this scene as it being a little stupid but it still works with the topic.)
• At Lucky & Elizabeth's wedding he was willing to make himself look foolish in order to stop Lulu from saying something about the baby (be it you agree with the secret or not Spinelli did what he did out of friendship to both Jason and Lulu)
• He accepted Sam using him as a cover for her Angela Monroe secret (saying the package was for Spinelli not her)
• When he go the finger prints for Logan (gag) he completely made a fool of himself to complete the task.
  

Spinelli is a good and loyal friend. He was willing to put his own life in risk to go into the Metro-Court.

Spinelli is a good egg.

All Too Familiar
I spent most of the evening dodging dirty looks from Patrick until Sonny was brought into the E.R. unconscious. Since Patrick’s been on a short leash lately, I knew he wouldn’t have the patience to deal with Spinelli, so I tried to be the peacemaker. I don’t really know much about Spinelli other than he helped Jason during the hostage crisis. It was obvious he was concerned about Sonny incriminating himself, but the only thing Patrick wanted to do was treat him. Watching Spinelli fight to protect Sonny reminded me of another boy who once did exactly the same thing.

Spinelli sweetie.. honey.. Your perfect just the way you are. You do not need to be a mini Jason to get a girls heart. No matter how entertaining it was to see Spinelli try and evoke the spirit of Jason I don't want my Spinelli to lose that special thing that makes him Damian Spinelli.

Now with that is over wasn't today a hoot. Spinelli all nervous about Lulu falling for "Film Guy" and Dillon concerned about Lulu falling for the Jackal.

Spinelli wearing one of Jason's leather jackets.(one of a whole closet full) He looked so cute after he crashed. The helmet to the side all scuffed up. Lulu went right into caretaker role with Spinelli. She completely forgot Dillon. You can go back and forth about what Lulu's feelings are for Spinelli but she really does care about him. That is with out a doubt.

Spinelli is slotted to be on "General Hospital: Night Shift"

Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) is slotted to be on the new SoapNet show General Hospital: Night Shift.

Not sure how much we will see him but any extra Spinelli time is always good.

I got the giggles today.

As I implied yesterday the Dillon and Milo scenes seemed off for me yesterday and I love Spinelli, Milo and Dillon together. I was disappointed. Today was a lot better.

Milo and Dillon were funny. The scenes were just light and fluffy and I loved it. Maybe Spinelli will really get some guy friends besides Jason. (not that this is anything wrong with that relationship)

We didn't get much Spinelli (he didn't talk much during the 'negotiations' with Lulu) But it was was still great.

This is what Spinelli said to Lulu:

Spinelli keeps breaking my heart. What is up with Lulu? Heck even Jason. Jason just let Lulu yell at him. (though it may have been more of a screech then a yell)

I really think Bradford had another good day (though the writing was really choppy he did well)
I just don't' get what the writers are doing. They are making Lulu seem uncontrollable, Spinelli as a heart sick puppy (such a cute heart sick puppy though) and Dillon & Milo where acting like a couple of clowns. (come on Milo a gun??)

I am happy for Lulu apologizing and the hug was nice. I guess I am just frustrated.

Bradford on his myspace blog posted that the rumors of Spinelli leaving (ie: being killed off) are false.

There are no plans (as far as I know of) for any sort of Spinelli departure. Of course anything can happen, but as of right now, I'm not going anywhere.

Jason better stand up!

What can I say that hasn't already been said about Bradford's monologue to Steve Burton on Friday except - WOW. I've watched it three times. Just amazing. If Bradford isn't nominated for an Emmy next year, it will be a travesty of justice. Of course, Maurice was passed over after his amazing manic depression storyline, so who knows what the selection committee is thinking....

What I WILL say, however, is that after seeing the previews for Monday's episode and how HORRIBLY LuLu treats Spinelli, screaming at him to shut-up (especially after SHE sent him there to talk Jason into spilling the beans about the Stone Cold Special in the first place), if Jason doesn't give Lulu an immediate and stern verbal bitch slap for talking to Spinelli that way, especially after the way he just opened up to Jason in a way that was obviously difficult for him, I will be majorly upset with the writers. MAJORLY. Nuff said.

Spinelli broke my heart today. We got a pretty new peak at Spinelli's childhood. Less from the words but more so with Bradford's amazing delivery. I think it has been pretty well implied in the past that Spinelli's childhood was not all sunshine and roses. The simple fact that his grandmother seemed to be the one who raised him spoke volumes. What happened to Spinelli to bring him to the person he is today? I don't know about anyone else but I want to know.

I believe Spinelli's hero worship of Jason very well could be tied with his childhood. I don't think Spinelli had many people treat Spinelli like Jason does. I think he has been treated poorly by many important people in his life. I think Spinelli has projected the feelings he has (or wanted to have) for someone in his past on to Jason. I am concerned that Spinelli's hero worship is going to end up breaking Spinelli's heart. Only time will tell.

The only disappointing part about the scene was Lulu (she who I adore) busting in at the end. She has not been written in a very positive light lately.

In the end Bradford's acting was amazing. You can really see that he is a very talent actor.

The Mooner of Manayunk

I laughed and laughed through all of the Spinelli and Milo scenes. Mooner. Mooner.

I liked how Spinelli, Milo & Dillon where willing to work together for the greater good to rid the world of the evil of The Crabby Commando a.k.a The Unworthy One.

I loved how he was quick on his feet to get the glass from the unworthy one. Ok I must admit Spinelli always impresses me.

I worry about Spinelli sometimes. He seems to put so too much faith in Jason and Lulu. I feel such dread of the impending doom of one or both of them breaking his heart.(this is a soap isn't it?)

I just want to give the boy a hug.

On another note Cooper was my hero today when he punched the unworthy one.

First off rumors are just that rumors I personally don't trust anything until I see it on my screen or from a very reliable source. (this means I don't trust message boards at all)

I refuse to be 'trained'.

Today was a glumly sad no Spinelli day. I did take note of the people in charge insistent attempts to try and force the idea of Logan and Lulu down our throats (GAG) I believe Guza has called it "training the audience"

Logan is so cookie cutter. How many times do we have to have the same old Bad Boy character. I personally have no thoughts (negative or positive) on the actor that plays Logan I just don't like Logan.

Spinelli is smart, warm & REAL. Do they really think by forcing this Lulu and Logan thing we will forget about Spinelli....?

I refuse to drink to drink that Koolaid.
