JaSpin Disappointment....

I know I haven't blogged here in a thousand years. Life, life and more life seems to be coming at me these days! I still watch GH every night, even though a lot of it has become beyond painful and annoying to stomach.

I did, however, hold on to a smattering of hope that there would be a shining JaSpain moment when Spinelli arrived after Jason's "I-nearly-killed-my-son" moment. I so miss the days of their heartfelt conversations about "Stone Cold's Secret Pain." I know that the writers are capable of allowing Spinelli to have a "real" moment, and he, on more than one occasion, has had insightful, if not comforting, words for Jason. The fact that it was a simply more barked orders from Jason makes Spin seem more like an abused employee then a friend.

Clearly, Jason still cares about him as evidenced by his desire for Spin to move out; however, even that was a pretty short, and lame, exchange compared to the wonderful JaSpin moments we've had in the past.

I hope this Lulu/Maxie/Johnny roommate krapfest doesn't turn out to be another Three Stooges "hardy-har-har" storyline for Spinelli with plenty of supposedly hilarious "awkward moments" and painful shenanigans. It's becoming REALLY OLD. Spin - and Bradford - deserve better, and Lord knows, Bradford can bring it if they let him.

Sorry to sound like such a sourpuss after so long of a hiatus. I just want great things for our Spin!

One of daytime's most popular non-couple couples, the dynamic duo of Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) kept us tuned in as The Jackal's unrequited love for the fast talking Maxinista took them hither and yawn. While it has yet to be seen if these BFF's will ever be more than friends, and hit the sheets, er Jason's couch again, they definitely have plenty of fans calling for more Spixie.

Square jawed, swaggering alpha males are plentiful on daytime. They are quick to come crashing through windows to save a damsel in distress. Heroism comes natural to them, but not so much for lanky, verbose, squeamish tech geek Spinelli, but then, that's what makes him so brave. "Grasshopper" is not a thrill seeker. He'd probably be very happy to sip orange soda and play World of Warcraft, but instead he often places himself in danger out of loyalty to his friends and partner in (sometimes) fighting crime, Maxie. The poor guy lost his Spleen, for goodness sake, when mobsters ran him down but they can't scare off Spinelli, who remains as sweet smart and resolute to protect the folks he cares about. Here's a nickname he needs to try on for size: Lionheart. Picture showed says GH's Spinelli(Bradford Anderson) is soap's most unlikely champion.

Well hello there. I am Dahlia, the NEWEST contributor of this here blog. But I might be better known as NamiV. I'm a regular over at the Spinelli LJ, as well as one of the administrators of one of Bradford's messageboards, Defy Convention. And now, I am here, infiltrating Penny's blog, bringing my own brand of mayhem, snark, and wackiness!

A little more about me...I have watched GH since birth. My granny watched it, as did my mom. Spinelli is a fave of mine because, well, quirky and smart is something I know well. Besides that, hey, I'm a grad student, I'm not THAT exciting!

But I do like long walks on the beach. Reading in front of a roaring fire. Making smores. TPing houses. Burning meals. The standard weekend stuff that everyone does, right? Heh...right? Hmm.

Ok, that's it! I'm glad to be contributing here. So give me a warm welcome because I'm like Diddy. I'm not goin nowhere...I'm not...goin' nowhere... I can't be stopped now...cuz I'm Nami for life! And I'm out! *drops the mic*

What's your Spinelli backstory?

We sit here two years and a month since Spinelli first graced our screens. The new characters since Spinelli all have more of a backstory then he has. (Dante who has never been on screen has more of a backstory)We still get nothing. All we know was he was raised by Gram, he has some parent abandonment issues, he likes to read and is good with technology. Lastly he was at PCU when he became dragged into the mob world.

The thing is we are getting closer to when Bradford's contract expires. It is my belief that at this point we will have to wait for back story if and when he resigns.

So I thought it may be fun to see what other people have in the back of thier heads for a Spinelli's Story.
Here is my stab..

His Gram is not his gram. She is not even related to him. She him because one or both of his parents wanted to protect him from some force. Maybe he is a Casadine perhaps Alexis's born after Sam. Maybe he is Nik's brother? What ever the news the circumstances of his birth and finding out about them will not bring Spinelli joy.

or on another note.

His gram is his Gram His mother died when he was young and his father was an unrelated to PC deadbeat. He was not the only baby though. He has a twin sister. She was raised by the dead beats family and while he knew about her he didn't' get the chance to really benefit from having her in his life as a child. She is very successful. A prodigy like him but she had all the benefits of a supportive family.

Most of the time when Bradford does soemthing really amazing on General Hospital I take the time to make a big wonderful post about how awesome it was. But, words really don't do justice to how awesome it was to see Spinelli take on a really dramatic role last week. I hope to see more of it. It's a travesty I can't write down all my thoughts right now but the Holidays have made me busy...I think a few posts down there is a feature from SoapNet about how great the scenes were. I think that sums it up pretty nicely.

Soapnet "Performer of the Week"

Performer of the Week: Bradford Anderson as Damain Spinelli. Bradford is a highlight in any week, just because Spinelli is such a change-of-pace character. The verbose, jumpy counterpoint to the intense calm of someone like Jason Morgan. But Bradford got to play a bunch of different colors for Spinelli this week. His reaction to finding Maxie unconscious in the park was shockingly real -- the decision to drop the "Fair Maximista" talk and just call out "Maxie" was fantastic. And the rest of the week, spent working Spinelli up into a murderous rage, then playing his ultimate inability to do anything with it, and finally his shame that he couldn't -- Spinelli covered a lot of emotional real estate this week. Plus, his face-off with Max at midweek was an epic confrontation between Port Charles's twitchiest liar and its most dunderheaded bodyguard. Loved it.

Family Moment

Such a wonderful week so far for Spinelli. He had some touching scenes with Maxie's family including Mac and Anna in the hospital waiting room as the clan anticipated the arrival of young Emma Grace Scorpio-Drake. Robin even deemed him an honorary uncle. I was so touched by these scenes. It was like Spinelli was a puppy adopted from the pound.

I know he has his Granny and Jason is practically family, but it's moments like these that cement his character into the fabric of Port Charles as a person that has earned the right to not only be accepted by a legacy family but remembered for years to come due to the purity of his character.

Friday October 31st

Now THAT is how you write an episode of General Hospital. Today's show was epic. It had all the elements of a great soap. Luke/Tracy/Laura/Scotty all brought great performances. Lucky, Nikolas, and Lulu recounted the history of Laura. Meanwhile, there was the drama involving Robin and Patrick as she went into labor. Very moving scenes, inside and outside the delivery room where all of Scrubs loved ones waited for news about the baby. Our Jackal was on location lending Maxie support and more importantly remembering her birthday (everyone wants to be thought of on their birthday) by giving her a gift that came straight from his heart. Spinelli gave Maxie a journal filled with artwork, music, and poetry that he collected from the classics. She commented that he must be a genius to know all of that stuff, to which Spinelli replied that every genius has a muse.

Truly moving scenes and I know I'm not the only one who was singing the praises of today's show on the GH comment line. Heck, the last five minutes had my heart actually pounding! That hasn't happened in a very long time, I assure you. I sat straight up in my chair as an action packed montage started with Scrubs in the delivery room and ended with Luke and Laura making eye contact. It was classic Soap cliffhanger Friday.

If every day of GH had as much drama as the last 5 minutes of today's episode did, what a powerhouse it would be every week.

Spixie Scenes

October 28th --

I really loved the scenes on Tuesday so I thought I'd come over here an comment on them.

To recap:

Spinelli and Maxie drop some stuff off at the church for the Scrubbie wedding. Maxie comments that she couldn't get through the wedding without him. Maxie rambles about all the details of setting of the church. Spinelli comments that one day she will make a beautiful bride. Maxie replies that it's sweet of him to say but she doubts she will ever be getting married.

Maxie says she'd always picture the perfect wedding. She and Spinelli are sitting in the church pews discussing her mom's wedding to Mac. (The following is almost word for word...I typed as she spoke). Maxie was so excited about them all being a family. Felicia had said her heart would always belong to Mac, and maxie believed that. Less than a year later her mom had an affair with Luke Spencer. "I hate my mom, I really do. But I'm just like her." Spinelli says "No, I must disagree most vehemently". Maxie disagrees because she says Felicia a liar shes a cheater just like her. So, Maxie promised herself a long time ago she wouldn't get married so she wouldnt ever hurt someone like Mac or Georgie.

Spinelli is later seen at the Scorpio residence (Suit alert!) where Anna comments on how well he cleans up. :) They twinkle just a little. I'm watching you Finola! Maxie puts Spinelli on the duty of locating Patrick and making sure he shows up to the
wedding.

These scenes are brief but so poignant. Once again we explore Spinelli and Maxie's internal issues, real things that hold them back. Spinelli didn't even say much but you feel his love for Maxie radiate through the scenes and that is only due to Bradford's ability to go the extra mile with his character, truly delivering heart in every moment. He isn't one to phone it in.

Also, Spinelli just looks great with the Scorpio family. I'm crossing my fingers that he can one day be apart of the family. ;)

Fall Campaign--Prep Time!

Attention Spixie Fans!

This is very important. I am working on a new campaign. Please help me by answering these two questions:

*What do you love about Spinelli and Maxie?

*What do you want to see for Spinelli and Maxie?

Here's the catch. I want answers that are UNIQUE. I need to come up with around 20 different answers to each of these questions. If you could, please try to have your answers vary from the person who just answered. If one person says they like Spixie's chemistry, think of a different reason, perhaps their comedy skills (etc etc) If you can't think of anything else, just say what's on your mind, but a diversity of answers would be appreciated.

Morning with Bradford.-Boston event.

I attended the Boston public appearance event on Saturday. It involved me getting up early driving down to northern T stop and taking the subway to the event. I was pleased how close the hotel was to the station.

I realized on the subway my phone was posting to the wrong blog. Sorry to anyone that checked. I was please to see I when i checked in I was on table number two . So I was right in the front.

Bradford arrived ab0ut 9:20 and at first tried to talk walking around between the different tables. He made everyone dizzy including himself so he stopped walking around and returned to the stage.

He told us he left L.A. last night and had not gone to sleep yet. You won't know it with the jumping around he did. I think if they could bottle Bradford's energy you could power a small country.

He then went on to explain a little bit about his plane ride. He was on the same flight as a few other of the General Hospital cast members who had events in Boston. An old man came up to him on the plane and asked him "Do you want to fix my computer?" I guess he is a fan.

There was a few recap of the Q&A

• He IS 29.
• Soapnet sent some of his damaged childhood videos to Disney for them to recover. (some of that footage can be found in the new camera ready)
• He mulched his backyard himself
• He commented how surprised he was to be in the Hot Guys calendar and didn't realize they used the photo they used.
• He find the name Dante just as amusing as some of us fans do.
• He agreed Camera Ready is messed up sometimes the first few days after release. We all laughed about how trippy it was the last time withe walking on the beach and the messed up sound.

He started to go around to tables when Carolyn Hennesy (Diane GH) stopped by as a surprise. I must say that if you thought the level of energy was big before she came in, Bradford and Carolyn were crazy together. It was like watching a comedy act. I could not stop laughing. This was Carolyn's first visit to New England and she didn't realize that Bradford was a 'local' till she made a baseball comment. She also explained that when they film a park scene they can't re-use the sod so she go in a list to get the sod for her house (she is a new homeowner). Oh she brushed her teeth with soap because she forgot her toothpaste.

After Carolyn left Bradford visited the tables. Right before he got to our table I won a picture from the raffle.

I was ether shy or tied because I barely said a word ot him at our table.. (though I did say things during the Q&A. Thankfully he remembered my name for me.

I had to leave at 11:30 to get to a birthday party in time. It was great. He is always very personable.
