The Jackal Struggles.....

Just when I thought I was as bored as I could possibly get without falling asleep from watching the "mobster madness" that is Sonny/Jason/Alcazar and their "gals," the Jackal comes along and puts an emotion chip in Jason Morgan! Their scenes together are just outstanding. Steve Burton has a real twinkle in his eye in his scenes with Bradford (I wonder if he, too, gets bored with his storyline?) The "Lulu Has Three Dates" storyline would keep me intrigued enough, but I have to say, Steve and Bradford in a scene together is just magic. It isn't just the dialogue, but the entire shift in personality that it brings to the character of Jason - and MUCH needed, might I add. Kudos to Steve and Bradford for having major chemistry and charisma on screen together. Loving it!

My heart just went out to Spinelli today, mustering up the courage to tell Jason that, believe it or not, the Jackal may rule cyberspace but in reality...."he struggles." My daughter was watching with me (not a soap watcher herself and having never seen Spinelli before), and she yelled out "HE IS SO CUTE! AWWWW!!!!" My sentiments exactly. They could have had Jason giving a long lecture, but the answer was perfect - "listen." The chick magnet spoke, and the Jackal was grateful for the knowledge.

Between the hostage crisis episodes, the Bradford/Steve "dynamic duo" scenes, and the "Lulu and her Suitors" storyline, it has really brought it home to me how bored I had become with a soap I have watched for...well...a LOT of years but kept watching out of...loyalty? Habit? I realized that I have not eagerly anticipated watching GH for...well like I said, a LOT OF YEARS (don't ask me, I won't tell!) :) Now I can't wait to see it everyday. My fast forward button is still getting quite a workout, but if Bradford hits the screen with ANY cast member, I won't miss a second. I'm traveling this coming Monday and Tuesday and will miss the show, and I am already trying to con people into recording the episodes for me. I haven't felt the need to go that far in quite some time.

Bradford, I already told you....that daytime Emmy is coming! :)

"My Experiance Getting Touched By A Star"

By guest contributor Andrea -aka azure_wings

Celebrities and charities are alike in the fact that they inevitably touch the lives of others. And when they unite together for a common good, the result is often uplifting and amazing. The 2007 Touched By A Star event was hosted in Sterling Heights, Michigan on March 24, and I had the great pleasure of attending.

Benefiting the Desi Geestman Foundation to help children and their families battling cancer, attendees were able to dine and mingle with some of day-time television’s top stars, from “General Hospital” and “One Life To Live”.

This being my first soap event, I hardly consider myself a die-hard soaper- I stand on the side-lines, not on my soapbox. But I will not lie- I went to the event with an agenda- meet Bradford Anderson! Since his debut on “General Hospital” as the quirky computer hacker Spinelli, aka ‘The Jackal‘, he’s quickly won the hearts and laughter of many viewers, mine included. So I was curious to see what Bradford was like in person.

From briefly meeting him and what I observed, I can sum the talented young actor up in one word- charismatic. I was really impressed, he was one of the first out on the dance floor and didn’t hesitate to dance with the fans, wowing us all with his ‘killer moves.’ You could tell he’s probably the life of the party wherever he goes.

One of the ladies at our table, knowing I was dying to meet him, pushed me into him in an attempt to be ‘helpful’. I was mortified and quickly apologized, but at the same time my inner fan girl was squealing. I am convinced that Bradford Anderson has super powers- why else would I, a typically intelligent person, suddenly turn into a stammering idiot?

When I did get the courage to ask for a picture with him, he was great about it, putting his arm around my shoulder. I’m proud of myself, I didn’t faint…I did, however, seem to lose the ability to say anything coherent beyond, “I love you, I really love you.” *sigh* But it gets better, folks!

On the way out, my friends and I purchased keepsake mugs, and who happened to walk by? Gold star if you guessed Bradford. The lady who sold us the mugs told him we wanted them autographed, and I held my breath as he signed his name on it with a flourish.

Then thinking I should say something, I said, “I feel like your stalker, I’m sorry I keep catching you like this.”

Either he figured I was rambling, or not very threatening, because he graciously ignored my lame fumble at the word ‘stalker’ and replied good-naturedly, “No problem, I don’t mind being caught.”

It was an amazing evening I will never forget. All the stars seemed so down-to-earth to me, and gracious with each of their fans. If I had it to do over though, I would have attempted to let Bradford Anderson know what a wonderful job he’s doing on GH, and to thank him for becoming a bright spot on the soap. I would wish him all the best in his career and future- and maybe, just maybe- I would’ve gotten up the nerve to ask him to dance.

Did I mention he has killer moves?

Lulu's choice

Lulu got her self in a bit of a pickle today.

She called Milo her 'boyfriend' to scare of scummy Logan. Spinelli also heard Lulu declare to her family that Spinelli was her boyfriend last week. Lulu just really had no clue what she wants. I was so upset for Spinelli when Lulu told him "boyfriend" was a figure of speech but he really bounced back quickly when he realized it was still a "maybe" and not a NO.

Ok so back to Lulu's choice.... Is there really a choice here? I just see one answer but i guess I am partial.

I was impressed that Spinelli, Milo and Dillon where working together to fight of the evil that is Logan.

Oh did anyone catch the cat fight between Lulu and Maxie. I was a little disappointed to see it broken up. I wanted to see how that one ended.

No Spinelli today

I can't express how glum days like this are. It is difficult for me to enjoy General Hospital with out Spinelli. He is so much about why I watch the show now.

The rest of the show has turned into the attack of the pod people with 90% of the Port Charles population going completely against who at least I understand them to be.

I must say though that Nancy Lee Grahn really shinned again today. To get a bit off topic I must express how disappointed I was she was not nominated for an Emmy for Best Actress. Her playing "Alexis Davis cancer fighter" is so believable to me.

Bradford Article in Soap Opera Weekly

There's a really nice, full-page article this week in Soap Opera Weekly on Bradford. Yep, just as cute in an interview as he is playing Spinelli! He mentions his good friend, who is an Abercrombie and Fitch model, and how their agent was putting him up for soaps. Bradford said, "what do you think about me on a soap?" Everyone laughed, including him. Now here he is!

Pick up the issue. It's great!

Thanks to Sam, Bradford's fan club president, for letting me know about the article. :)

I Think My Heart is Full!

It most definitely is - of love for Spinelli! I revert back to my post from the other day. They are definitely inserting a softer, warmer Spinelli onto the canvas and making sure to ingratiate him into the lives of more of the main characters. When he apologized to Jason for stumbling upon the information about his "stone cold special," I loved that Jason wanted to be sure that he understood he wasn't admonishing him about his findings but just telling him how he felt about the whole mess - and how much he'd appreciate it if he helped Lulu.

"The jackal is gratified by your trust." Sigh and double AWWWWW!!!

Too bad Jason didn't like his suit! LOL! Where do you find a polka dot shirt with matching tie? I envision Napoleon Dynamite picking up his "sweet" suit from the thrift store. :)

Nothing exuded how much Spinelli longs for love in this life than how overcome with emotion he was by the wedding and all its' meanings. Steve Burton's delivery of "that's nice" couldn't have been more hilarious.

Other great Spniellisms from yesterday:

To Leslie - Lulu's grandmother - "You must be the blonde one's granny. May I be so bold as to say your DMV records do not do you justice."

To Lulu about Maxie - "girl could use a decent yoga class."

To Jason describing Lucky - "The deceived one." Jason: "Can you just call him Lucky?"

To Jason: "Excuse me, I have some giant prawns to attend to."

To Jason in reference to Carly: "What's with the V-lady. She looks a little tense."

The bigger question - is Bradford signing a contract with GH? His time on the canvas definitely seems to have picked up, and that seems a good sign! The "rumor" is that he has been offered one but was thinking of declining because he didn't want to get tied to a role. Then the more recent "rumor" is that he was leaning towards accepting (as "supposedly" heard from another GH actor at one of his fan club events.) Let's hope he at least signs for a minimal amount of time. More Spinelli, please!

"Ease up Mouthy One, leave Lulu alone"

How sweet was it that Spinelli said that for Lulu yesterday.(Mouthy One LOVE IT) I don't think Spinelli will be 'tricked' by Maxie again.

I loved yesterday's episode for SPINELLI (I ignore the slow destruction of Elizabeth..pregnancy hormones)

It was full of such great moments.

How do you like my suit?

I loved him wearing the napkin bib. I bet that is what his granny taught him to do.

A Cleaned Up Spinelli?....What does it all mean?

Could Bradford have been cuter today as Spinelli? I'm with Penny - his hair and wardrobe were still plenty "Spinellified," yet had had a softer air about him. A purposeful move from TPTB? Are we looking at a gradual downplay of major geekness? Perhaps to make him more amenable to a love story with Lulu? Guess we'll have to wait and see! Let's just hope Lulu doesn't REALLY come down with some rare, flesh-eating disease.... :)

And his scene with Sam where he tells her no matter what, he'll do whatever it takes to spare her pain...well, let's just say I'm keeping THAT one on my DVR for awhile....

Bradford is really coming into his own in his role as Spinelli, and I'm shocked to admit that for the first time in years of watching (I'm not admitting how many out loud!), that I'm PROUD of where the writers are taking this character. It's obvious Spinelli has never had people in his life he's cared about so much - or who have cared about him. It's almost as though his perpetual state of "spastic nerfbag" was to draw attention to a very lonely existence. Now that he has these people who are a constant presence in his life, his true nature and a calmer, more caring demeanor is showing through - yet we still get enough of the humorous, loveable nerd we've come to adore. BRAVO to Bradford - I see an Emmy in the not too distant future! And kudos to the writers for bringing on a not-your-everyday soap character and letting him shine.

On a personal note, if anyone is going to Bradford's fan event in July (I AM!), please drop me a line at bradfordfan@aol.com I'd love to know some folks in advance and say "hi" at his event. :)

Solution: Call in Sick

You have to love Spinelli.

So Spinelli is keeper of THREE big secrets
  • Who Killed Rick Webber
  • Who is the real daddy to Elizabeth's Stone Cold special
  • Sam's Angela Monroe secret (zzzzzzzzz)
Oh on a slightly different matter I loved what hair and wardrobe did with Spinelli today. I thought it suited Bradford and was in character. (thought I always think he looks adorable)
