YAY Super Soap!

Only a week away!! Just wanted to clear something up. I'm actually not singing.. I decided at least for my first time there, I wanted to be able to enjoy each day without having to worry about performing each night! Maybe next year.. (if they wan't me back!)

I can't wait to see all of you there!

"Spinsights" for 10/31/07

A few "Spinsights" for the 10/31 episode.

First, let me say that I know there are those who probably loved it, but I did NOT appreciate the SpinLu "dance" scene yesterday.

I'm over SpinLu...O-V-E-R

It's been coming for me for awhile, and Wednesday's episode just clinched it for me. While this episode DID launch what is shaping up to be a PHENOMENAL November sweeps storyline, (Spikey is right, NO ONE does Sweeps like GH), couldn't the writers have given us some closure on SpinLu? It's obvious that they've been trying to kill it for us for quite some time, and while they've been quite successful, it would have been nice if they could have thrown us a bone and let SpinLu have a beautiful dance scene at Wyndemere. Let Spinelli walk away with some dignity and leave Lulu wondering if she had made a terrible mistake. We didn't need hope for a future - just something to cleanse the palate after a summer of Spin abuse and Logag in our faces. Guza couldn't be that generous. Instead, we get one of the most spastic Spinelli days of all time, starting with his complete nerfbag freak out on the dock and ending with his nerd-er-ific dance with Lulu, who acted like she was doing charity work for the mentally handicapped. She did it because she felt she HAD to, not because she wanted to. It was painful, knowing Spin still loves her so much. She doesn't even act like she's interested in his friendship anymore. She uses it to her advantage when she wants something - "if you don't do this, tell me that, I'm moving out!" At least Jason called her on her BS the last time she tried that.

Speaking of the dock-side freak out - what is going on with Jason these days? He is really earning his "stone cold" title. I realize a lot is going on in the ever-yawn-worthy mob world, but Jason usually has more patience for his wingman and a willingness to try to talk Spin down. Lately, he seems to find Spin nothing more than an annoyance and someone to turn to when he needs computer help or camera surveillance. I'm in dire need of a warm JaSpin moment. I hope I'm going to get it for sweeps!

The only positive note for Spin in this episode was Nadine. She seems to actually appreciate Spinelli's positives, and I LOVED that she called him "The Most Dashing One" in such a genuine way, without a hint of sarcasm or a feeling that she was making fun of him. It's obvious she has no romantic interest in Spin, and vice versa, but it's nice to know Spin may be making a new friend who won't judge or chastize him for his uniqueness. YAY, NADINE!

Poor Georgie - I'm actually surprised Spin didn't think of asking her to the ball, but I guess we're going to be forced to wait this one out, if we get it at all. I'm definitely in the G-Spin camp. They would be so cute together, and how refreshing would it be for Spinelli to be in a healthy relationship with someone who truly cares for him and accepts - and LOVES - all his qualities. PLEASE don't let Georgie be one of the "casualties" of sweeps!

Maybe this big sweeps event will force change for Spinelli. If he's at Wyndemere, I'm assuming they have plans for him during this storyline. Let's hope it's to save Nadine or Georgie - or both! To really be forced to "man up" and learn that he can do it better than he ever thought he could. Let's let Johnny save Lulu.

Side note - I'm actually rooting for JohnLu (I don't know if they even have an official title yet). I REALLY like the Johnny character. Great actor playing him, he's NOT hard to look at and he and Lulu have great on-screen chemistry (something she SORELY lacks with Logan - ack).

The Most Dashing One..

Spin has a panic attack and Jason tries to calm him. Drop dead gorgeous Nadine (Spin's date) shows up and calls Spin "Most Dashing One". Spin calms and introduces Jason to Nadine. I don't think Jason has ever had a girlfriend any more beautiful than this girl. Go Spin!

Meanwhile, at the party, Lulu dances with her father (awwww) Lucky/Liz dance together, make me cry and remember how good they can be together. Nikolas touches me with the proposal to Emily. Jerry and Alexis have some major chemistry, and sweet Georgie shows up with Coop, and (saint that she is) admits she wants him to dance with her sister. I really hope she gets some good moments with Spin. She was so broken-hearted that he was taking Nadine.

Nobody does Sweeps like GH...

Oh yeah....

I think I am over Spinelli and Lulu, and then they have a scene like this..

Pick the moments where you bring him down. Don't feel pressure to [be funny all the time]. It will make those moments that you are all the more successful, and you won't kill yourself in the process.' That got me thinking. Now I don't feel the pressure to have to come up with something new all the time. I don't have to hit the top of the charts with every scene. I can pace myself a little bit. I still make very specific and bold choices, but I don't feel like I have to blow it out in every scene."

Night Shift vs. GH - WTF?

Yep, I'm going to say that a lot in this blog. WTF? I have NO CLUE what to say about the apparent integration between Night Shift and GH. Granted, Halloween is my busiest season for my business and maybe I missed something somewhere that explains all this, so please comment if that is so - so I can stop saying WTF???

Did Bradford and others not state that Night Shift was an apparent "alternate universe" from regular GH? I'm pretty sure I didn't dream that! So if so, how are they planning to explain the following since it seems that many of the storylines have hopped from the netherworld into daytime TV:

1) During the dark of night, did Spinelli suffer from schizophrenia and forget his love for Lulu? How else can we explain his chase of Jolene and his subsequent virginity-losing romp in the O.R.? During the day, Spinelli seems to still be as in love as ever with Lulu, and if we ARE to assume the crossover of his bed hop with Jolene (which we would have to since she is now ON GH, wouldn't we?), would he not discuss his heartbreak with Lulu? Or did "Jolene's Spinelli" remain in the alternate universe? But if he did, how do we explain his discussion of Jolene's horrid deeds to her sister? Jolene's terror tirade on the patients and staff of GH crosses over but the romance between she and Spinelli DOESN'T? WTF? Which leads me to.....

2) Jolene's sister has shown up on the GH canvas (and conversely, we have no way of knowing that Jolene won't come out of the coma!), but Spinelli made no mention to the Angel of Death's sister that Jolene had saved his life. Does that mean the shootout in the E.R. scenario remains in the alternate universe?? How can that be if Jolene is in a coma? HOW did she get in the coma if we don't include the shootout?? Dr. Julian is still injured, so there MUST have been a shootout, right? WTF?

3) Getting off the Spinelli topic a bit here, but what about the rest of the storylines?? Does "Anna" the baby exist for Robin in the daytime GH universe? Or is there an "alternate Robin" still left out there in the ether? Robin and Patrick had similar reasons for breaking up on GH, but there was no mention of it being because of the baby storyline from Night Shift. WTF??

4) Will Touissant show up on GH? Or does he have just ONE being - that of Night Shift? So that means no romantic storyline for Epiphany? WTF????

5) If both shows are supposed to somehow "gel" (and I'm sorry, they DO NOT), when the hell did anyone sleep?? Everyone was working the night AND day shift! No wonder Robin and Patrick broke up! And how can SOME stories crossover but others NOT? WTF!

There are lots of WTF moments like this if they plan on trying to integrate these two shows, which I NEVER thought was the plan. The biggest question in terms of this blog is still - how are we supposed to justify all these actions for Spinelli?? Are we supposed to assume he banged Jolene at night and made breakfast for the blonde one when the sun came up? That he was chasing the "Angel of Mercy" and talking to Stone Cold about his feelings for her at night while pining away for Lulu during the day, heartbroken and dejected when he learns she is sleeping with Logan? Why would he care if he was doing the horizontal mambo with Jolene?

I sit and stare at the TV and wonder how they expect us to swallow all this. But then again, it's Guza. Why am I surprised? WTF indeed!
