Of Moose and Men

Recap: May 5th--May 6th

Our evening begins with Jason and Spinelli tracking down Ian Devlin for answers regarding Michael's shooting. Little do they know, there is a stowaway on board.

After giving Jason a million dollar smile, Spinelli actually gets to drive the Mob Mobile.

"Look mom! I'm driving with my eyes closed!"

He drives too slow for Stone Cold's tastes, looking out for baby moose and lizards on the road. Jason irritation at the grasshopper's cautionary driving is tested when Spinelli has to slam on the brakes as a moose gets in front of the SUV. As he does this, he flings Maxie out of her hiding spot in the back seat. She decided to stoaway for the night's adventure.

To say the least, Jason is not pleased. He drops her off at a bus stop. Jason then tells Spinelli to frisk Maxie for the keys she stole to get into the SUV. The Jackal falters a little. Turns out Maxie had the keys hidden in her shirt...Hmmm...Anyway, Jason wants to get a move on. Spinelli tells her that he cannot abandon Jason at that moment and stay with her at the bus stop because Stone Cold is out for revenge and very emotional, and since Jason has never left him in his hour of need Spinelli cannot do the same.

On the road, Spinelli confesses to Jason that he is actually in love with Maximista. Jason is surprised and asks "What about Lulu?". Spinelli explains that he loves the Original Blonde One as a dear friend but his heart no longer races for her. Maxie has him under her spell but he doubts she will ever look on him with affection. Jason warns Spinelli that he once knew a woman once like Maxie who had a way of destroying the things she loved. Spinelli seems genuinely aware of the risk involved with loving a girl like Maxie.

Back at the bus stop, Maxie has been taken hostage by Ian. She sends a text message to Spinelli for help. Jason and Spinelli arrive just as things are getting tense between the doctor and Maxie. Spinelli begs Ian not to hurt her. Ian confesses to shooting Michael but won't say who hired him. He is distracted long enough for Maxie free herself from him. Jason shoots Ian as Maxie runs into Spinelli's arms.

Afterwards, the police arrive and Maxie explains to Mac what happened, how Jason shot Ian, but then adds that Spinelli did most of the saving. Our Jackal couldn't be more pleased by her comments.

Jason compares SOMEONE to Maxie...

JASON:(to Spin) I used to know someone kinda like Maxie. She, uh, cause a lot of damage and some people hated her but no one ever hurt her as badly as she hurt herself. It's kinda like Maxie. I mean, she isn't afraid to go after what she wants but, you know, some people, once they get what they love, they can't help but destroy it.

------

Spikey here..

So who is Jason talking about in this? If it's Carly, then I'm making my UGH face. I get that they both do this kind of self destruct thing, but I just can't deal with another Carly on this show. We've already got three of them with Claudia, Carly and Lulu.

Maxie needs to be Maxie.

Still, because it's no secret that the current PTB tend to recycle, There was some speculation that Spin's life is a parallel of Jason's.

Thoroughly Conkissed

April 31st--May 1st

This was an demanding soap day for our esteemed Jackal. He demonstrated all of his skills: looking good in a suit, making a scene, Jackaling to save the day, and getting caught between a rock and and blond place.

Spinelli joined Alexis and Diane "in disguise" (a.k.a. fancy hair and clothes) in the courtroom at Anthony Zacchara's trial to determine if he was mentally sane or not. The dynamic lawyer lady duo was skeptical of his being there to say the least. As the the trial began, The Jackal burst from his seat and cried "Objection!", confusing all in the room.

Even Ric (Darth) Lansing couldn't stop Spinelli from going on his theatrical rant about what a danger to society Anthony Zacchara really is. Onlookers were either confused or amused by Spinelli's zeal. One person not even slightly amused was the judge, quickly ordering The Jackal be taken from room either by his own doing or with the aid of an officer. Spinelli chose to leave of his own accord rather than be hauled off to the PCPD. He then clapped Alexis on the shoulders, declaring that the judge was now ready and warmed up. Perhaps causing a distraction was his intention, because Alexis then called for a stall in the trial.

Meanwhile, back at the farm, Maxie is having a major meltdown. She deleted an important email at Crimson in order for Lulu to look bad, but Kate decided to blame both her and Lulu for the loss of important information. Maxie calls Spinelli, desperate that he come and help her retrieve the email before she loses her dream job.

Lulu and Maxie bicker, discussing who is really using Spinelli. Spinelli arrives in the midst of another war of the words. Lulu tells Spinelli that Maxie isn't his real friend. Maxie retorts that Lulu is only jealous and that Lulu treats Spinelli like a toy. Maxie then adds "...but you are not a toy to me, Spinelli", planting a kiss right on a very shocked Jackal. Lulu watches on, perhaps even more shocked at what she is seeing than Spinelli.

Maxie explains to Spinelli that her kiss proves she cares about him. Spinelli replies that he is "thoroughly conkissed --er-- convinced!". Lulu tells Spinelli that the kiss obviously meant nothing. The Jackal took exception to Lulu's "most ill-informed opinion", putting her in her place. He told Lulu that her words were beneath her and that she has made mistakes in her life too. Just as Lulu is not defined by her mistakes, Maxie isn't either. Very wise words from the Jackal, words that Lulu does not want to hear. She informs Spinelli that he is just Maxie's latest sucker, to which the Jackal replied, "...You don't think very much of me do you?"

"You don't think very much of me, do you?"

Lulu assured him that wasn't the case at all, that his trusting nature was simply being manipulated by Maxie. The arguement went nowhere, Maxie and Lulu fighting over history while Spinelli listened silently. He then took on the task of retrieving the lost email that brought him to the office in the first place. Kate the Fashionista doubted his abilities at first, but of course The Jackal and his mad computer skills triumphed and recovered the email before either Lulu or Maxie lost their job. As Spinelli left, both girls thanked him for his help. Lulu assured him that she wasn't mad at him at all and Maxie walked Spinelli out hand in hand.

What is Lulu thinking?

Soap columnist Lynda Hirsch speaks out on the Emmys

The most glaring omission this year -- maybe any year -- is Bradford Anderson (GH's Spinelli). The actor took a three-week role and turned it into a leading character. This guy has to memorize the most outlandish dialogue. Even when playing the fool, he is anything but. Unlike many actors, he does not need to act suave. Even when given the chance to be a hero, Anderson always lets that little "who, me?" edge come through..
