An Open Letter

I wrote this on the Spinelli LiveJournal just after the "I love you" scene aired today and I wanted to share it with the blog.

Open Letter to My Snowflakes, aka Daisy Children:

Guys, I'm so happy. Jenna (from Opposite Attraction) texted me a simple little statement that read, "she said it".

I was in the middle of helping my dad put up groceries and all I could do was stand there in silence. A can of green beans in one hand, a sack of chips in the other. "What a year," I thought, putting them into the cabinet. My hands hovered over the a box of cereal for a minute and I sighed...counting to myself all the meltdowns (at least a solid 12) we've been through.

Milk in the fridge. "She really said it," I pondered. Numbness, truly. All this work...if some of you knew how much work it really has taken to get to that scene, you would understand why I had to take a deep breath before putting away the ice cream.

Dad killed a bug as I stood thinking "...Are they (you guys) happy? I just want them to be happy." A pile of plastic bags (sorry, we're not a Green family yet) was at my feet. I just looked at them, holding back a sigh (or maybe it was a laugh...or a tear?)

A few more text messages chirped on my phone. I read them, in a daze. I didn't get to see the show today, the day I've worried, fretted, and waited on a ledge for. For some reason, that seems fitting. Of course I'd miss this day of all days. It's been over a year, and she finally said it.
I don't know what else to say, other than I'm so genuinely happy for you guys...the Spixie fans who waited it out...My eyes are getting just a little blurry writing this.

The groceries are all put up now. I'm going to go sit quietly and reflect. Then, I'm going to call the comment line and draft a letter.

Much respect, and even more love,

Lindsay

Friday the 13th

Most of you know I have an adoration for a certain Ben Fold's song called "The Luckiest". I heard it for the first time December of 2007, before Spinelli and Maxie's TMK storyline started. It's a beautiful love song.
The lyrics:
I dont get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if Id been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe Id be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door theres an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
Im sorry, I know thats a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

Anyways, when Spinelli and Maxie first started having a lot of scenes together and a romance was pondered, I connected this song to them. It seemed to really work; a love about someone who has had a lot of trials in their life but believes strongly that the "wrong turns" brought on a beautiful connection. It's a song about soulmates, really.

If any two characters could be considered "unlucky", it would be Spinelli and Maxie. She always loses. He never wins. That is the poetry in their relationship. Almost everyone Maxie has ever loved has left her, whether it be her parents, her sister, or lovers. It seems that if she opens her heart to someone, they are cursed to harm or simply exit her life. Then there is of course Spinelli...The good guy who always finishes last. We all watched him pine after Lulu, be tricked by Jolene, and then be denied a chance at love with Georgie. Forture does not favor these two.

To me, it seems so fitting that Maxie declared she loved Spinelli today of all days. Friday the 13th, the day most skirt away from all bad omens, was the day Maxie said the words Spixie fans have been waiting over a year to hear. The two most unlucky people in Port Charles connected on the unluckiest of days. I expect nothing less, obviously. This is a couple that bonded in a sewer, a cemetary, a morgue, and an insane assylum. They aren't conventional to say the least.

Friday the 13th somehow just...fits. It's so completely THEM. It's symbolic and has so much resonance. I tip my hat to Kirsten and Bradford for carrying us through these scenes today, and I trust that there are some very excited Spixies out there sitting in awe of today's wonderful gift. Will fortune begin to favor this unlucky pair? Will they become the luckiest? I truly cannot wait to find out, and it will be a pleasure and honor to watch.

Boards

All right.

I'm just going to say this once and be done with it.

People are sheep. Baaahh.

Penny was telling me that she worries if we don't post in negative threads it looked like we were being picked on and not fighting back. She proposed we actually post in said negative threads.I disagree, because I don't see any point in bumping negative stuff.

But...then I realized...er...Where are my positive posts? Seriously, I've seen a lot of people complain about action on the boards and I want to see these same people make some damn threads, you know? It's not cowardly to ignore negative posts, but it is pretty cowardly to say omg all the hate drives me away. It's a message board folks! That's all.

It's just people sitting around a circle yelling at the top of their lungs and trying to be louder than the rest. Everyone thinks they are witty, everyone thinks their opinion matters, and everyone likes to gang up on the dissenter voices because they got sand kicked in their eyes one time in kindergarten and boy is it fun to pick on unique voices. Dude! KICK SOME SAND BACK.

There is no reason you should assume your opinions can sound any lamer or as dumb as those already out there on the internet. In fact, I know a lot of you are actually highly intelligent individuals, you're just QUIET AS HELL! Which is ridiculous...The dumb folks should be able to sit around and hate and the smart folks can't hold a conversation? ...Great model of society! Seriously...Don't act like mice, all meek and mild and afraid to stir stuff up on occasion. Life's too short and the internet is ever changing, get out there! In the real world you don't get the luxury of hiding behind a screen name when voicing your opinion, take advantage!

Bring your threads you make over here! This is not life or death, this is painless. If you completely detach yourself from the whole thing and realize that message boards have no effect over you unless you give it that kind of power, you will realize that it's EASY to go on them. I can sit and read an entire, stupid, unrealistic hate thread about Spinelli and it doesn't bother me on iota. Chant "I disagree" in your head and be done with it. Get to frustrated, make a post of your own and ramble about your feelings until you feel better. It's a game.

Here are some topic ideas. (I am NOT going to go over to SOC and make all these threads on my own as I have done in the past. I want to see some brave snowflakes go and make a friggin post). If you think of something other than these, just post them.

Spinelli: Why does he identify with Rorschach? Conspiracy?
Spinelli and Maxie--who are they kidding, they're a couple.
Sam and Spinelli: Spam tastes so good.
Jason and Spinelli: a true bromance
Spinelli and his clothing-- bringing Sexy Back Indianna Jones style
What did we learn about SPinelli's thought process through his humorous demon/angel dialog?Spinelli's real family--how he became apart of Jason/Sam/Maxie's lives.

And just to make it easier for you, here's two threads.

http://boards.soapcentral.com/showthread.php?p=9154496#post9154496 Family
And if they get deleted...well...who effin cares? Just start something else. I'm just tired of people talking about the subject of "omg hate on boards" and very few people actually doing something about it, leaving it up to other folks to go out on battlegrounds solo (you badasses know who your are). There are a few people who are constantly having to pull all the weight of this fanbase and they shouldn't have to considering how much support is out there for Spinelli. The ratio of Spinelli fans to Spinelli worker bees is sad to see. Help is needed, folks, step up.

Don't forget to post on other boards too...ABC boards, SZ (if you have an account), DD. I really, really don't give a shit if some of these boards are anti-Spinelli or whatever, you have a right to be there just as much as the next person. If you get attacked, make a game out of it and take a shot of whiskey every time someone wishes death on you or says he's fugly. Some things will never change, and you aren't going to change them too radically, but if this is what you think matters be a part of it.

Apathy kills. Peace

Constance Towers' New Official Web Site

Hi all!

Sorry to have been absent from my "Spinelli Duties" as of late, but GH has not been far from my thoughts! That's because I have taken over the duties of designing/operations for the official web site of Constance Towers (Helena Cassadine).

Constance Towers Official Web Site

As you may or may not know, Connie will be returning as Helena in April! I will be having lunch with her in a couple of weeks, so I'm HOPING she might at least give me a "yes or no" on whether we might be blessed with a Helena/Spinelli scene or two. How great would THAT be!

Thank you, Penny, for letting me post about the new site, even though it's not technically "Bradford" related. Connie's publicist and I are working hard to spread the word around the internet. Sadly, a fan snatched the constancetowers.com domain, but it is NOT her official web site, so we're trying to get the new site out to all the major publications, fan sites, etc.

I promise to share some thoughts on all this Spinelli action we've had lately as well. Wow - seems times they are a' changin'!
