I noticed something very interesting about Spin today. Some may have seen his behavior as a 'little over the top' I saw it a whole other way.

We started off today liked we ended yesterday. Spinelli and Jason huddled around Spin's laptop as Spin finds images of the 'thugs' so that Jason can track them down. We then have a great scene where Spinelli with Jason's direction find one of the 'thugs' car licence plate. They start to have a dicussion about what if Ric is behind the threat when they are interrupted by the DA of Darkness himself.
This is were Spinelli shows off his smarts and how much he cares about Jason. He starts yelling and acting all tough with Ric (who does a pretty good job at pretty much dismissing sweet Spinell).Yeah he was acting 'foolish' but watch the scene again this time remember what usually happens when Ric baits Jason. Do you see it? Spinelli was trying to take the focus off Ric and Jason and instead of Ric and Jason coming to blows they ended up barely interacting at all..
Leave DA of Darkness before Jason bashes your head in.
Sonny ends up coming and breaking the interaction up. Spin keeps his tough guy act up while Sonny is there too. When Ric leaves Spinelli is sent off to the pink room. No one realizing what a help he was.
We don't see Damian again till he sneaks out of his regrettably pink room to continue the discussion that Spinelli and Jason had before Ric interrupted them.

Penny,I'm slow so could you explain what you mean about the Jason/Spinelli and Ric scene?
pretty much Spinelli was distracting Jason and Ric so that Jason didn't end up in jail for assaulting Ric. Jason and Ric don't mix very well.
Thanks for explaining.if Spin and Ric turn out to be half brothers,I hope they bond or at least be friendly towards each other.
Also, he knew that Jason suspected Ric of doing something to his child (and Jason is very depressed) Good point, Penny. :)

Great observations, but I'm afraid a lot of fans won't see it this way. Spin was way over the top today and he's been over the top for at least a couple of weeks now - ever since TPTB have been trying to find lame ways to separate him and Lulu. Unfortunately Spinelli is coming off as a bit too weird for belief and a bit too emotionally regressed. Sadly I think people are going to think Lulu's right to be with Logan - and I'm someone who thinks Logan's a creep. Spinelli now seems too young for her, imo. They need to save this situation before everyone starts thinking he's gone too far in the geek direction. He's been moved too far away from the smart alec stoner college kid he was when he first came on. If this is all geared toward pairing Spin with Georgie, then they'd better get a move on - and it wouldn't hurt to let Spin speak a bit of English now and then, either.
I agree with your comments and the analysis -- Spinelli was definitely coming to the rescue and derailing the confrontation between Ric and Jason. However, I think it's also true that most fans won't see it that way. They'll just see Spin as being annoying :( It's too bad people don't realize how gifted Spinelli/Bradford is!
That Comforti guy said the writers try to out-Spinelli each other, and this is not a good thing for character growth.
I tend to agree with the anonymous.. He's quite "MEtrocourt" early Spin on NIGHT SHIFT. Even though I agree with your Observations, Penny, on GH he is regressing into almost a "Rain Man" type character, because the writers are trying to be too cute with him..
If this is somewhat for Lulu/Logan benefit, as anonymous above suggests, then just let them be together and stand alone. I don't need Spin (and Maxie/Coop) to take the hit for a couple I completely despise.
