I like them because they are not just the "wacky couple" or the "puppy love couple" or the "greatest love of all couple", but they do contain elements of all of those archetypes. They can do tender and they can do slapstick. And they are friends, and (mostly) honest with one another.
I also like that they weren't brought together because of a love triangle or a love formula, but because of the death of a mutual friend. I loved Georgie. And if Spinelli and Maxie can have a refreshingly intelligent, funny, (and long-played) romantic storyline, that showed growth on both ends, I think Georgie would approve.
And they're both left-handed, which for some reason I get a kick out of.
