Where did General Hospital go?

You know that soap opera that used to be on at 3pm eastern time on ABC. You know that soap that had Luke and Laura's wedding? You know that soap that gave us storylines like BJ's death and Maxie's Heart? Remember Stone? Ned.. remember his leather pants. Remember there used to be this family called the Hardy's oh and other family called the Quartermaines Yeah THAT show.

When did it get canceled and no one told me?

I will watch this show they replaced it with. Its kinda like General Hospital and it has this great character named Spinelli. I will keep watching it for him but I am thankful I have a DVR. Yesterday this wonderful amazing character Georgie died. She was on General Hospital too. All of Port Charles watched her birth. It was such a funny and heart warming story. Well yesterday she died and instead of focusing on her death they focused on some other storylines I didn't care about. Well back to Georgie. She grew up. She was smart and beautiful. She was REAL.

I have been watching AMC, OLTL and GH for over 30 years and I really can't remember being so saddened over a character's death. This was so senseless, so unnecessary.
There were so many possibilities for G-Spin and now they're gone...
You are so right, Penny. Gone are the good old days of GH with the Hardys and the Quartermaines....
The Hardys are gone and they're killing off all the Quartermaines. The only thing left for me on GH now is Spinelli.

You know, people blame Guza for killing GH, but he's the head writer. Jill Farren Phelps is the producer and if I'm not mistaken, she sets the tone and has a bigger hand than Guza in deciding the direction of the show. And then Brian Frons over her. GH is just awful these days. The death of Georgie is completely senseless and unnecessary. If they wanted LL off the show, then send Georgie off to Europe. This is just ridiculous. The show is tired...just copycatting either other prime time shows or feature films. I don't know...is this the end for GH? What is Sarah Brown thinking, coming into a mess like this?

I must heartfelt kudos to the person who created that "Goodbye, Georgie" video . . . It is a beautiful and poignant creation and I broke out in tears watching it and continue to cry as I'm writing this. I've seen a lot of characters come and go in my years and years of watching GH (been watching it since I was old enough to know what a TV was . . . back in the good old early 70's) but no death of a character has hit me so strongly and so personally as the death of Georgie. I loved her bubbliness, her strength, her loyalty and the beauty of the character's soul. Lindze Letherman really put her heart and soul into her character and I'm sure that she feels that a little bit of herself died on that sound stage when Georgie died. I'm extremely upset about the whole thing. But, again, thanks to "Broccoliworld" for such an emotional and lovely tribute to one of the bright lights at GH.

Robin, you are right. This is not the work of "Evil Warlord Guza the Luza" as so many people quickly say. This has Jill Farren Phelps' name written all over it. The woman loves killing people out of nowhere just to see what it does to the ratings, even though you'd think after the same result of angry fans everytime, she would get it figured out :(

The writers are on strike right now...we've heard straight from the actors that scab writers have been brought in and their work is taking effect in current episodes.

The common denominator here is Jill Farren Phelps....

WHOEVER is responsible needs to have their ass (or collective asses) kicked. Unbelievable.

I never used to have to fast forward through scenes, but there I am doing it. Sonny having another tissy fit over someone he doesn't like and ordering Jason to kill him - fast forward...I kept Kate and Diane's scenes because I ADORE Diane. Then Sonny shows up at Kate's house - fast forward - Carly having a tissy fit over something Sonny has done and jealous over his latest bed bunny - fast forward. Gimme a break. I was even a bit creeped out over the "Elizabeth gets a hotel room" scene. So now she's going to be a mob ho-bag, too? I know there are those Jason/Elizabeth lovers, and I like them together too, normally, but it just reeked of "weirdness" yesterday.

Ugh. Bradford's stellar performance was the only good reason to watch.

Oh and P.S. - John J. York did a bang up job himself. Remember the good ol' days when he was a bad-ass and not a barely-scene Police Commissioner? Seeing him in this poignant scenes, I remember what a great actor he is. I look forward to his scenes with Kristina W. Too bad they think he's not worthy of more screen time.

I am only a teenager and I have only been watching GH for about a year, but Georgie's death was miserable. I think the teenage audience connected with her character more than the others. It made me very upset when she was killed off.

Yes, Allie, because Georgie was much like a lot of teens these days - her life was the most like many teen viewers' than any other teen character on the show. She didn't run with the mob, she wasn't self-centered; she had high expectations for her life, wasn't afraid to show off her brains, was generous, happy, strong, courageous, and sensible. She had a job. For some reason, TPTB don't think that any of the viewers find characters that resemble them and their lives to be attractive or interesting. So we get what we're getting now - repetitive, boring, non-creative junk with actors who've been on the show for years uttering the same lines over and over and over.

It's very depressing, and totally unnecessary! (How's that for a rant? ;-) )
